Optical Cable Hums?
I have a KLH surround sound system with a HD Dish network reciever hooked up using an optical cable, but when I switch from analogue to digital on the sound there is a hum that starts comming out of the speakers. I need to know if I can elminate this hum.
Hi there,
If you have a DVD player with optical out I would suggest you hook that up to your sound system and see if it still gives the hum. If so then you sound system's optical input is bad. If not then it is your network reciever's optical output that is bad. If either one is under waranty I strongly recommend that you get whichever fixed.
But did you know that digital coaxial is the alternative to optical. If your sound system and network reciever have that, get a digital coaxial cable and hook it up. It also give you the 5.1 dolby sorround sound like the opitcal does.
