Forbes: Ohio ranks third-to-last in growth outlook

Friday, September 25, 2009

Business Courier of Cincinnati reports:

Ohio and Kentucky continue to languish in the bottom half of an annual ranking by Forbes magazine of the best states for business, but both managed to creep up a few slots on this year’s list.

The state ranked 37th on the Forbes list released this week, up from 39th last year. The list ranks states based on a number of factors, including growth prospects, business costs and quality of life. Most data is culled from Moody’s Economy.com site, but Forbes also uses data from the Census Bureau, FBI and the U.S. Department of Education.

Ohio’s weakest suit in the latest ranking was its growth outlook, which ranked third-to-last among all 50 states. That ranking is made based on projected job, income and economic output growth along with business openings and closings and venture capital investments.
