How do I find my DEI remote starter on a 97 Blazer & get new transmitter?
We purchased a 97 Blazer 3 years ago. Yesterday we were in the front yard when my Blazer suddenly started!! Wow! what a suprize! I hopped in and hit the brake and it stopped. I looked under that hood and I see a huge sticker that I never read before telling me it is equiped with a DEI remote starter. We called the dealer where we purchased it , and they don't have it. I don't know where to look for the remote starter to find a model number. How can I get a remote transmitter for this DEI REMOTE STARTER? and... by the way .... how could it start by itself??? scarred me to death!!!lol
to find out what remote starter you have the best bet is to find a dei dealer have them find out and to order you a remote(usually the cost around $40-$80), then they will need to program it, and depending on the model, the module or the remote might need to be opened. as far as it starting by itself, depending how old it is, it could have picked up a radom signal from somewhere they might not of had rolling codes back then. well good luck
